A sugar-free 18-year old, ultra premium rum that is sustainably produced (Carbon Neutral & Fair Trade certified). From a 5th generation family estate, it is naturally aged without artificial ingredients, distilled 100% with renewable energy and KOSHER certified. A full-bodied rum with a long and smooth finish that lingers in the palate. Best enjoyed neat or on a rock, with a peel of orange.

I keep this stocked on my bar. It's very well priced for the quality, at a quarter of the price of the 25 year.
This body is a buttery vanilla, with hits of butterscotch and toffee. Very light and smooth.
Cheers!
Finally bought a FdC18 while in Nova Scotia last week and I'm glad to have finally discovered this Rum. Having read the pros and cons about this offering, I poured myself a glass and let it sit for 10 minutes (as per "mistercoughy" recommendation) and added a couple drops of water.
Appearance: Dark Amber
Nose: Molasses and Oak
Palate: Toffee, Caramel and Vanilla
This rum is very smooth and well balanced and produces absolutely no burn in the throat. A real treat!
I drink rum straight up and this one was pretty hard to drink at first. I opened the bottle last night and was ready to give it a 4. Today I decided to give it another chance and have drank about a 3rd of the bottle. It has mellowed out since last night but it still has the most intense lingering alcohol vapor in your sinuses of all the aged rums I've tried that are 40% and has almost no seeetness. I gave some to my friend who is a bartender and didn't tell him what it was and he thought it was whisky confirming my thoughts about it. It's smoother than a 25 dollar bottle of whisky but definitely doesn't taste like what I want out of a rum, especially at $50 bucks. I will finish the bottle. It won't be buying it again.
Nice strong tasting rum. Strong but easy to drink pure or on the rocks. I let the rum sit in the glass so the alcohol taste gets a little less stong
Geschmacklich dominieren bei diesem Rum eine aromatische Mischung aus Bitterschokolade, gerösteten Nüssen und Gewürzaromen. Der Abgang ist lang mit Eichen- und Karamellnoten.
Well balanced! A great option for the right price.
A little dissapointed with that one. Lack of complexity
I actually enjoy Flor de Cana's 12 year old rum over their 18. Price being only part of the equation!
Toffee, Caramel, Dark Chocolate, hazlenuts and a little touch of tobacco give a sweet but not overly cloying nose.
"It’s not overly sweet and retains a dryness which is particularly good on the finish."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Having read other reviews I was excited to try this. My first impression was heavy alcohol vapours, so let it rest for a while to see if that improved things.
It got better with time, but never won me over. A little too heavy on the oak for me, albeit a smooth drinker.
