Nose: I can just smell that sweet oak barrel with a hint of figs.
Taste: I like how this rum is on the edge of the alcohol taste but it isn't. Tasteful because of the oak barrel.
After taste: it burns a little but nothing that is bothering.
Conclusion: this is a great edition to my rum collection, a surprisingly good rum that aged well for 5 years and it is great value for price. I would recommend this one for the whisky drinkers for sure!
7,4:The nose opens with a fairly light rum, underlined by a strong toasted woodiness. Some fruit rests at the heart of the glass, with a little orange peel bringing precision and a certain hold. Vanilla and other sweet spices, like cinnamon and nutmeg, retain their liveliness and freshness. There are some medicinal notes and roastedness, mocha.
The aeration brings more freshness and the fruit takes advantage to deliver a rich, sweet juice. Orange peel is the first to emerge, paving the way for more exotic fruits, ripe to the point of ripeness, without exaggeration. American oak follows in classic fashion, with luscious notes of vanilla, coconut and blond tobacco, dried fruits.
7,5:The palate is soft and entirely devoted to the American oak cask. After a slight bite of dry wood, vanilla, sweet spices and toasted coconut quickly invade the palate, taking us into familiar territory, some metallic notes. The wood becomes more toasted on the mid-palate, approaching caramelized and roasted nuts such as pecan.
7:The finish is light, with luscious coconut and orange peel returning to service.
Good in cocktail or straight
I was really surprised.
Under a appreciable blanket of added sugar, there's a very decent rum here.
It smells and tastes pretty soft. There's aome light aromatics wafting out of the glass but not too much else.
Tasting is again, light aromatics and icing sugar vibes flowed by a touch of astringent wood, somehow followed by sharpness, icing sugar and the added sweetness.
It's light, and though it's pure column still, there's just enough challenge in there to keep it interesting.
I think I'm glad I bought it! It was a recommendation, and it's no bad thing to try it, but I'm starting to feel like there aren't too many budget rums that do it for me. Think I might punt for brandys at this price instead and rum wise, stick to the pure pot still ones I love.
The perfect way to end a day sailing in Antigua ….
Je to jeden ze skupiny jednodušších rumů typu Abuelo Anejo, Contadora 12, Plantation Grande Reserva. Za zmínku stojí spíše jeho upravení bratříčci, Sherry Cask, Port Cask u těch sudy přidali mnohem více charakteru.
The nose is sweet molasses, a little orange.
"When sipped like this you taste molasses and toffee. The oakiness of the rum also comes through giving a slightly bitter taste."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Light body, a touch of dryness without many flavours come out a bit simple not my style...
