Nutty nose with hints of fruit and vanilla. Nutty taste carries through to a very long finish that has some slightly strange lingering notes. Some spice but not a ton. Complex and slightly less sweet than I prefer personally, but still very good

Had a big rum tasting a few months ago and this was in the top 2 favourites. In fact the whole Appleton range was very well favoured.

We destroyed a bottle of V/X in a sitting with a few mates. Lovely with a coke mix. Wish I got more bottles.

But this 21 was just something else. If you are into the really sweet rums, than this probably isn't for you. Go towards Diplomatico if that is your taste.

This finishes a little dryer, but that doesn't take anything away from it. It is a damn fine rum. Lovely oak and vanilla. Very smooth and minimal burn.

Drink it straight up, sit it and just enjoy.
Firmly in my top 5.

Warm, woody. Smooth, sweet, crisp. Soft nose. A fine rum for sipping.

With the 12 yr being good, its no suprise the extra maturation of the 21 yr makes this jus that little bit better ;-) Its more complex, giving you heavier caramels n vanilla notes and has a smoother finish. Best thing you can do for me with this is knock me up a Treacle! :-D

Lovely! A rich and complex rum which has a long finish and great depth. Premium rum with a premium price-tag which knicks it down a notch..
Nice and chewy not sweet but not dry.

a Saw a lot stellar reviews, but i think the style isn't for me. It's good, no doubt. But to me it ended up tasting a little flat or bland

This is the second time I've used this title. This rum is fantastic, but thank goodness I got to try it at a rum tasting before dropping $150. I love all of the aged Appleton rums, they have the perfect level of Jamaican funk for me for sipping. Is this better than the 12 and 15? Yes. Is it better to be worth 3 times the price? No. If this did something else, anything else, an interesting cask finish, a higher proof to punch up the flavor, this would be a 10, but it's still only 43% so 9 it is. I almost want to ding it a point for the price, but it's too good for that.

8:On the nose, what's immediately striking is its balance. The woodiness is toasted, the alcohol present but well blended and no single aroma takes precedence over the others. Vanilla, floral notes, almond, caramel, woodiness and orange form a winning team with all tropical fruits and funkiness and roasted aromas that emerge on airing.
8,5:On the palate, the attack is both lively and greedy, sweetness is pleasant . The batch with is more present here than on the nose(long ageing), but blends very well with the molasses and brings us nutty notes, spices, caramel sweetness and overpowers that famous Jamaican funkiness with grassy and ripe tropical fruits notes. Walnut returns at the end and is a leading note through the palate.
8:The finish is relatively dry, yet long. A mixture of brown sugar and toasted woodiness accompany us for quite a while.
Well rounded and smooth, yet lack of that strong omnipresent Jamaican funkiness that we find in Appleton 12 rare casks.

Was disappointed, it lost all its character just for smoothness
Prefer 12 oddly enough

Smooth sipping rum. Taste some oak coming though. Nice dark color. The bottle is well presented with a copper cap.
