El Dorado 8-Year

These guys know what they are doing when it comes to rum!

Bernsteinfarbig, mit Geruch nach Früchten, Vanille, Holz und ein wenig Alkohol.
Geschmack von getrockneten Früchten, Toffee, Vanille, ein wenig Süße und im Abgang dominiert ein wenig Alkohol und ein wenig salzig.

Alles in allem ein guter Rum
Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ok.

Eines muss noch gesagt werden: ohne Erfahrung war dies einer meiner Favoriten mit unschlagbaren Preis/Leistungsverhältnis.
Nach dem Testen von 18 anderen Rumsorten hat sich das Bild verändert, ok,
auch das Preisniveau, z.b. jetzt habe ich mir ein Glas eingeschenkt nachdem ich den Malecon 18 Jahre verkostet habe und was soll ich sagen, jetzt ist er nicht mehr so toll, schwach im Geschmack, kein Abgang.....

Für die jenigen die nicht Vorhaben eine Wissenschaft aus dem Rumtrinken zu machen: das ist ein guter Rum für alle Eventualitäten und eine 8 als Bewertung ist gerechtfertigt.
Für die Leute mit Erfahrung und die viele andere Rumsorten kennen und das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis nicht sehr wichtig ist ist es natürlich keine 8 mehr.

El dorado classic flavors. Halfway deep, sweet and dried fruits notes.
The nose is Bananas, maple and hints of vanilla!

Nice medium honey color. Aroma is maple with a slight mustiness and a hint of lemon. Right away you can taste a sweet maple syrup on the front of your tongue. Medium weight mouthfeel. Lots of lingering spiciness.

A dark amber rum with marzipan, vanilla and dried fruit aroma. It's a bit dry, like a whisky, but you feel a taste of ripe fruit, vanilla and coffee. I tested just once, only 3 cl, but I liked it a lot. For me, it was better than El Dorado 15-year. Is on my shopping list, for sure!

There is much pronounced molasses, oak and raisins on the nose and in the taste, with a spicy finish. The rum itself is not very complex, but the taste is distinctively strong and molasses impart its depth. For Demerrara it is not overly sweet (15g/l), which for me is a plus. I can easily sip this one as it is reasonably smooth (there indeed is a bit of a burn), but its robustness truly excels in rum and coke. Good value for the money.

Decent quality for the price goes will with coke and lime! Nice for mixing!

Probably best for mixing, but not too bad in a snifter. Strong caramel and brown sugar aroma. Not as sweet, grassy taste. Great staple for the bar.

The smell is just good, a little too sharp on alcohol, not a powerful flavor taste. On the same range of price I would buy Plantation 5 years. ED8 it’s not my kind of rum.

Anyway, you won’t die if you try it. Enjoy !
