Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.
The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

If you’re looking for a decent rum with a burn and not very sweet, Appleton 12-yr is a good option. Not my favorite but not the worst rum I’ve had either.
Nice mild oak flavor, liked this more than the 21 year
Good if you want to use a Jamaican Rum in a high end Tiki Drink. It has some Hugo/Funk but not too much.
This should be a main staple in everyone's cabinet! Amazing for what it is and still at an affordable price point! Best buy when evaluating taste with cost.
Funky rum reasonably priced. Complex and verry enjoyable.
Not a fantastic choice but good enough to buy if you're limited on options.
A fairly smooth rum that works incredibly well in a Mai Tai. Could be used both in cocktails and in sipping. This is my go to rum.
This opened up beautifully with an ice cube or dash of water. Wonderful notes of molasses and vanilla, very faint almost hidden floral note. Very nice Rum.

The rum offers a lot of smoky spiced oak flavour.
"A nice note of cocoa and a little hint of vanilla. The rum is smooth yet spicy offering a nice kick. The finish is long and complex leaving a lot of flavour behind to savour."

While not much more expensive (occasionally can be found for the same price as the regular Appleton's), the improvement in quality is pretty significant.
Smoother, warmer, more distinct and pronounced flavors, and just a great affordable rum.
