El Dorado 21 is produced near the equator in Guyana by Demerara distillery. The final product is a blend of rums, aged between 21 and 25 years and crafted using 100% locally sourced Demerara sugar. Traditional tools are used in the distilling processes including three unique wooden stills. The rums rest until maturity in 45 gallon oak casks.

So warm, so rounded, so very lovely! Very smooth vanilla notes and oak.
Lots of people will say that they prefer the 12 or the 15, and I get that as for the money they are both fantastic choices however, the 21 is just better in my mind. Dried fruit, honey, cigar tobacco, and a rich nuttiness that the younger bottles lack.
OK, this is fantastic rum and there's no question about that. However, is it that much of an improvement over the 15yo to warrant the (extortionate in BC Canada) price point???
A complex and even intimidating choice for a beginner. Not burning, but what I'd call numbing palate. Oakyness can be clearly identified.
I was gifted a bottle of 21 y/o El Dorado. It was the 1st aged bottle I had tried. As a Scotch drinker (on the rocks or neat) I wasn't overly impressed, but still good. To me, the over 12 rums are very smooth but seem to lack the character of the 12 y/o. Not sure I'd buy it again for the $$$.
El Dorado 21 years is certainly one of my favourit rums. It's well balanced and has certain notes that I cannot find in other rums, so far. Fully recommended
Hits like an oak log but finishes like pancake syrup without the maple. Cant say its a giant leap from the other El Dorado products and therefore I question the substantial price difference.
'spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar'
"El Dorado 21-Year rum review by The Ultimate RumGuide"
There is an extra layer of oak in the profile.
"Notes of oak and a slight spiciness also comes through. The rum is very smooth and easy drinking but complex enough to ensure you savour each sip of the drink. The finish is long lasting."

This is the smoothest and most enjoyable sipping rum I have ever had the pleasure to taste. Maybe that means I haven't sipped enough yet. That is why I gave it a 9. I friend said they were sure it was not a rum spirit it was so smooth. I will definitely have to get another bottle as I finished the first one!
