Very hard notes of oak, for me it is very similar to some kind of whiskey. El Dorado 12 is more to my toungue. El Dorado 15 is next to be tasted.

Edit: After few weeks, when i have tryed this rum again I have completely changed my mind, hard oak whiskey notes are gone, only perfection left in the bottle now !

It’s 21 yrs. nuff said. It’s sweet and rich so that’s really all you need to call it a night.

This is good (really a 7.5), would happy drink again, and it's a nice sipper, but given the choice I'd take the 15-Year Old any time - just seemed a little unbalanced in comparison.

Avast! By the time you be readin' this, I've had the 12, the 15, and finally, the 21. All three be decent sippin' rums in their own regard, and for different reasons, but all rated the same. Now this particular rum smells amazin' - but not too sweet! There be a bit of caramel, a bit of smoke, a bit of spices, and just a hint of funk. On deck, she be very smooth. You be hit with a light, but unexpected, camphor taste at first... and then the sweetness comes aboard with all of the other flavors, including a bit of fruit on the back side. She be bit on the dry side, but this be the kind of dry a sailor could learn to love. On MY ship, I'll be stockin' the 12-year, but if you get the chance to try this lovely lass, don't let her pass on by...

($70 CAD) I was super pumped to finally grab a bottle of this once it went on sale. El Dorado 12 was my first real rum and the 15 was fantastic. I've had my eye on the 21 ever since.

It smells like loads of ripe fruit and a bit of leather or pepper. It definitely has some layers, even just from the smell.

The taste seems to come through opposite with more leather or tobacco upfront, then the rush of fruit comes shortly after: bananas, melons and citrus. No bite, just great flavour.

Referring to the fat rum pirate's hydrometer tests, the 12 has 39g/L sugar added, 15 has 31 and the 21 has 22. The 21still has quite a bit of sugar added, but it is not nearly as sweet as the 12 which, in my opinion, allows the rum to come through more. It is most definitely a favourite of mine and confirms my thought that El Dorado is my favourite brand.

All in all, if you liked the 12 & 15, you'll love the 21. It's super fun and easy to drink. Watch yourself with this one, it could be dangerous.

Very good rum, aromatic, medium or even less sugar, strong alcohol at the beginning, very clean on palate with long and rich aftertaste, caramel, dry orange, vanilla, herbs. Like it.

This is smooth and flavorful. Don’t need the price tag, but undeniably good.
