El Dorado 12-Year

En ok rom til en god pris. En rom man altid bør have stående i skabet. Er rigtig god i en Dark n Stormy, men er også til at nyde alene. Er en anelse sprittet, men ikke så det bliver for meget. Skal dog trække lidt først. Skal helt sikkert have fat i den 21-årige.

Suger dominates the profile. Its similar to Diplomatico Exclusiva with maybe a slightly better over flavor. There is some maple syrup, vanilla, oak, and pepper on the finish with everything playing second fiddle to the sweetness.

Tok much sweet for somebody, but o.k. for me. Good smell, good taste and aftertaste with many flavours. Still lower complexity vs. higher class rums, but good standard for fair price. I must compare with 8/15y El Dorado.

Finom összetett rum, sok erős ízzel. Hordó, karamell, aszalt gyümölcsök. Sokan felvetik, hogy túl édes, túlcukrozott. Szerintem jól áll ennek a nehéz rumnak és ennek a stílusnak az édesség, szépen összemossa a markáns ízeket, nekem így ízlik.

This is the rum that introduced me to a world of finer things. Before this I only drank Rum in a mix. smooth and sweet. a Great entry level rum.

Un nez très prometteur, assez fruité et sucré.
En bouche, on retrouve en effet ce côté sucré, rond, fruité et moelleux, avec des notes boisées et un peu épicées. La finale est assez longue, les arômes vous collent bien au palais!
Ce rhum est très facile à boire et riche en saveurs!
Son côté assez sucré (comme pour le Diplomatico) déplaira à certains, mais le rend très accessible pour les gens qui souhaitent découvrir l'univers du rhum.
Personnellement, parmi les rhums contenant beaucoup de sucre ajoutés que j'ai eu l'occasion de goûter, c'est celui que je préfère. On en arrive à regretter qu'ils aient eu la main si lourde sur le sucre, j'aurais aimé voir ce que ça donnait avec moins d'artifices!

I can see why people are divided between the 12 and the 15. The 12s slightly sweeter flavor makes for a smooth start but it's youth gives it a slightly harsher finish. Doesn't stack up against my other sippers but does make an acceptable run and Coke.

My wife loves rum and I am always trying new stuff. She is very picky but the El Dorado 12 is a great go-to. Love the look of the bottle, it has that "Jack Sparrow Rum Bottle" look to it. The smell is of oak, wood, vanilla and brown sugar. Those same flavors some out in the first taste to include cinnamon and orange peel. It has a long spicy finish. I generally drink it with ice, neat or with ice and a lime wedge (hey, I like lime).
