Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

My father in law swears by this stuff, only thing he'll drink most of the time. He's a smart guy :)
Color: Really dark brown
Nose: Molasses
Taste: I get a lot of spice and some orange peel
I am a big fan of the El Dorado family of rums, but feel that the 12-year is least bang for buck compared to its 5yr and 15yr siblings.
Great rum! Sip on the rocks with a hint of lime! Great product for the price!
An excellent rum. Tastes of caramel and vanilla but not overly sweet. A sipping rum but can also be enjoyed with your favorite mix.
This is my current favorite, it’s a mouthful of goodness - I love to use this as a mixer or sipper. It is delicious in a Canton Breeze - ❤️
This is my go-to when I'm in the mood for something sweet. I understand it's no super-premium drink, but for the local price (30 eur), it's exceptionally good value for the money. In comparison with other sweet rums, this one is much more complex with all the sweet notes you might want - caramel, toffee, vanilla and more. Added ABV intensifies these flavors even further, while the rum is still relatively smooth and easily drinkable.
what a very nice sweettooth rum this is. Highly recommended.
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...
"El Dorado 12-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
It’s sweeter with more delicate fruit flavours coming to the fore.
"It’s very sweet and quite light. It’s very easy drinking. As a sipping rum it as easy to drink."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

After reading good reviews about this rum I decided to give it a go as my very first rum bottle. I had the whole bottle neat and I really enjoyed it, a tad too sweet but with a nice burn that balances all up. I was a bit sad to learn that they add sugar before bottling so that’s why I won’t give it a 10, I wouldn’t not buy a bottle because of it but I like traditional stuff better.
As for the aroma and taste I got for both caramel, plums, brown sugar and molasses.
