Pusser's Gunpowder Proof 3-Year

Jedná se o melasový rum, který zrál minimálně 3 roky v sudech po bourbonu. Název rumu odkazuje ke střelnému prachu, který pokud se na něj vylil rum o minimální voltáži 54,5%, byl prý stále použitelný. Rum o této voltáži dostávali britští námořníci v letech 1655 - 1970. Zároveň by výroba rumu měla zachovávat nejautentičtější postupy výroby, stejné jako před několika staletími.
Denní dávku rumu vydával lodní skladník neboli purser (z toho název Pusser's).

Aroma: Opálené exotické dřevo, tabák, hliněnost, koření (pepř, chilli, nové koření), spálený karamel a ořechy. Vše lehce podbarveno pronikavou tinkturovou svěžestí.
Chuť: Velmi hořké kakao a hutná hořká dřevitost s kořenitostí.
Dozvuk: Koření, hořké kakao, dřevo a stopa sušeného ovoce s větrovostí. Velmi dlouhý, příjemně hořký, stopově kouřový.

Výborný a komplexní blend za až absurdně nízkou cenu.

Rhum de mélasse du Guyana, 3 ans d'âge. Titre 54,5°.
Design : Basique, étiquette avec le pavillon de la marine britannique. Le rhum est très sombre.
Nez : caramel, solvant.
Attaque : alcool, caramel, puis notes de café, de muscade et poivre avec une bonne présence de l'alcool. C'est du brutal.
Finale : longue, caramel brûlé qui tapisse bien la bouche.   
Je voulais goûter le rhum traditionnel de la Navy.
Bien chargé en caramel, le produit est correct, mais c'est davantage un rhum de pirate que de gentleman.

Dark sweet fruits, very sweet and thick, pleasantly strong.

Aroma - raisin followed by demerara sugar, molasses, and light cinnamon

Taste - demerara sugar followed by dates, oatmeal cookie, and a strong oak / barrel spice finish.

En skarp rom som giver mod til marinen, men ingen nydelse.

I have tried about 1/4 of the Rums on here, and no way can review them all. I do review a few that I still like or stand out. I do mostly Tiki drinks. This is one of my favorites as it cuts through and has the flavor and richness I am looking for.

A good navy rum that has an appealing amber coloring. The flavors of molasses, oak, and nutmeg(?) seem at the forefront with a touch of funk. A little smoother than the traditional blue label. Not the most amazing rum out there, but I understand why the Royal Navy lads miss their daily ration. Quite enjoyable especially for the price point.

been waiting for this for a while as its such an iconic brand and it didn't disappoint. As in many overproofs this is heat forward but in the best way. I was ready for the heat which wasn't harsh but a bit disappointed there were fewer identifying flavors in either smell or taste. I added the smallest amount of coke and that helped in many respects. still on the lookout for a great overproof. that's half the fun!

While only based on tasting a 2 cl sample, I immediately liked the full flavour and wonderful smell. Good stuff.
