Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

This Dos Maderas rum is a very strong oak tasting rum with strong tobacco notes but also a very sweet side!
just like the 5+3 but 5 years in sherry casks. One of the best buys out there so good
this rum is unusual - aged in PX casks, it's just way sweeter than a rum should be! If you're in the mood for sweet - it goes down a treat though. Very sherry, thick and sweet. I like it.
God til en aften i godt selskab, mild og rund, skal have lidt mere dybde for at komme højere op, men absolut et godt glas
Aging in Pedro Ximenez and Cortados Sherry, good but not so comlex as Dos Maderas Selection.
Great dark color, wonderful nose. The palate is very rich with the Sherry mostly overwhelming the rum. That said, it's quite good. You get just enough oak and vanilla at the end to round it out and it finishes very well. If you're looking for a dessert sip, I'd recommend this. Probably a good intro rum for wine drinkers or a sweet dram to go along with a cigar.
Experimenting with some new and unique rum. Molasses and sherry don’t seem to be anywhere near my tastes. There is a bit of sweetness that comes through which is enjoyable. It’s not in my top shelf but for some this might be their top choice.
Decent rum but nothing special. Mostly fruity, with black licorice notes. Mild bitterness on the finish.
Rich, plump raisins dominate the palate.
"Quite drying on the palate so the mid palate. A slight oakiness and a little touch of the oak barrel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

...due to it's tasting-profile. The 5 years aging in the sherry casks made this rum sweet and very deliciously. This rum will always have a place in my rum cabinet.
