Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

Sweet, easy to drink but somewhat artificial taste. Still nice Touch!
Velmi dobrΓ½ rum. VΓ½raznΓ‘ chuΕ₯ cherry. JemnΓ½ a opravdu dobrΓ½ rum.
En heeeelt fantastiskt god rom!!! Kanske lite fΓΆr spritig fΓΆr min smak, men det gΓΆr faktiskt ingenting alls fΓΆr en gΓ₯ng skull.
A pleasant rum. Great on its own. I personally wouldn't mix it. Sweet with a great flavour.
Color is nice, a rich dark amber. Nose is lots of sugars, a faint spice, a faintly "burned" note that I guess is molasses. Perhaps a light mint as well. Mouth is lots of sugars, more of that pleasant burning molasses, and some darker fruity flavors that I suppose are from the sherry casks. Texture is on the thin side. This seems familiar and it drinks pretty nicely, but it's not exciting or getting to the more exciting world of tropical rum that I'm looking for.
Dos Maderas which translates to "wood" or "lumber" is an impressive tasting rum for the price (ranges $38-$52). It gets it's name from the aging process detailed in the description.
Color - Amber
Nose - Molasses, caramel and sherry
Taste - Honey, raisins, vanilla with subtle cocoa and tea notes. Very little burn.
Serve neat! It's also good on the rocks, but I felt it diluted the great flavor. I found the aftertaste to be very enjoyable as well!
Enjoy my friends!
Sweet and warm, with good essences of smoked wood. It's a ron for "every day" drinking.
I have had it with sweet rums. I find rums which have been artificially sweetened harder to drink than actual sweet liqueurs, for some reason. Dos Maderas is sickly sweet. Leaves you completely saturated with sugar after one glass. There is some depth but the added sugar makes it much harder to appreciate any flavour. It is smooth though and would appeal to a certain palate.
Rich, plump raisins dominate the palate.
"Quite drying on the palate so the mid palate. A slight oakiness and a little touch of the oak barrel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Having a bit of a sweet tooth this rum peaked my interest in the store. I wasn't disappointed. Definitely not for the die hard traditional rum drinker but I really enjoyed it. I will probably search out more rums that spend quality time in sherry casks.
