Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

The first time I tried this rum,I was somehow confused. The taste is nothing like classic rum. You can definitely taste the sweetness of sherry as well as smell the dried fruit aromas. I enjoy this rum a lot.
A nice sweet sipping rum. Not to expensive for the quality you get.
Not super like the Luxus but one.
Rum drinkers or not, I'm yet to serve this for anyone who didn't enjoy it.
I must have given 4-5 bottles as gifts and they're always received well.

Sure, it's not really rum-like. This is more like a fine sipping scotch at half the price. Tried side-by-side with Glendronnach 12 and Aberlour A'Bunadh it matched their quality and depth for a fraction of the cost. The raisin, stone fruit, honey, and oak notes come through and give this a lovely warmth.
- Výrobcem je Williams & Humbert, to je španělská společnost produkující exkluzivní sherry a jednoho dne se rozhodli, že do svého portfolia zařadí i rum.
- Rum je míchán z 5 letých rumů z Barbadosu a Britské Guyany. Ve Španělsku zraje ještě v sudech po sherry „Dos Cortados“ (Paolo Cortado) tři roky a pak 2 roky v sudech po “Don Guido” sherry (Pedro Ximénez).
- Barva je hodně tmavá, dobarvení je evidentní. Ve sklenici se může stát, že barvu doplňuje zelený povlak na hladině, kterým se může projevovat vliv sherry.
- U vůně můžeme cítit vanilku, muškátový ořech, karamel, nebo smetanové bonbóny. Někdo může tyto vůně shrnout jako marcipán.
- Chuť je příjemná, sladká po sherry. Můžeme cítit i muškátový ořech, vanilku a skořici.
10 let není nijak dlouhá doba, cítíme tedy slabé kousání alkoholu, které zjemňuje sherry.
Závěr je poměrně intenzivní, příjemný, ale kratší.
Very sweet aroma of ratafia, an old style molasses rum. There is also cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, tobacco, leather. In the taste, the pleasant sweetness of cherry juice, dark chocolate, immediately goes towards nuts (walnuts, Brazil nut and hazelnuts), coffee, but the vanilla sweetness returns. Spicy finish: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, sweet, chocolate, notes of coffee and sweet tobacco.

Very sweet, and heavy on vanilla/Butterscotch/baking spice. Not a very traditional rum.
