Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

Smell: Juicy ripe dates, floral brown sugar, aged cognac, rich sherry, floral oak. Very well balanced, rich and floral – interesting - clean and complex at the same time – medium age shows. It does get more complex when it opens up (30min + in glass) and the sherry old casks influenced it in an unique way.
Taste: Sweet cherry syrup mixed with ripe dates and molasses sugar – it is a little sweetened but still nice quite rich, floral and complex - no alcohol burn at all. Some black tea that brings a slight bitterness and aged oak but not too old. Very full bodied and smooth as a sipping rum. The sherry character really shows and compliments the rum.
Sweet rum very, pleasant/smooth to drink – rich sherry influence that goes well with the character. Definitely worth the higher price at 36€.
An originally tasting sweet, rounded rum with pleasant taste. I can feel (obvious) sherry, wooden, buttery and fruit tones in there. For a starter I didn't much like its strongly sherry tones and lack of sweetness (as seen +- 1 yr ago) in the beginning but really started to like it from the middle of the cask onwards (purchased another bottle). The first taste is a masterpiece. A bit feels like Carupano or some Angosturas, but BETTER. May be slightly too sweet for someone and possibly not the greatest alcohol to get shitfaced. (8,5/10)
Chutny rum ale z Barbadosu mam inu oblubenu znacku...pil som iba raz, mozno sa k nemu vratim.
Es nota el punt de la bota de Jerez, encara no de fons
This is a very different rum, but a great one to have in the cabinet.
It has aged in a sherry barrel and you can really taste the Sherry.
Recommend to give this a try
A very nice Don Maderas. I like the smoothness and just enough of the sweetnes. Quality!
Au nez, boisé avec des aromes de tabac, de pruneaux et d'amande.
En bouche, il est puissant et sucré. Épicé avec une dominante Xérès.
Bon équilibre avec une longue persistance.
Good for cocktails only.
If you like very sweet rums than this is for you, not much else
Rich, plump raisins dominate the palate.
"Quite drying on the palate so the mid palate. A slight oakiness and a little touch of the oak barrel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Good, but a bit simple for my taste. Well structured though. I’d never turn down a glass if offered.
