Doorly's XO 6-Year

V poradí tretí skúšaný Doorly's (po 5y a 8y) mi príde trochu tmavší ako prv spomenuté, zrejme výsledok dofarbenia, aby opodstatnil prídavok XO. Vôňa príjemná, stredne výrazná, s dominanciou dreva, vanilky a kože. V korenistej chuti je už cítiť mierne vyššiu voltáž (43%), je skôr suchšia, čo mi vyhovuje. Chuť dreva sa postupne prediera na povrch v zaujímavých pestrých odtieňoch, rum je relatívne ostrý a drsný. Záver dlhý, koniec ide dosť do horkých tónov. Je teda pomerne svojský, no musím priznať, že kvetovejšie a voňavšie 5y a 8y mi chutili o chlp viac. Každopádne za danú cenu ide o dobrý kauf, určite jeden z tých lepších rumov, čo som v poslednej dobe pil. Solídna sedmička! Hoci napriek názvu by som ho aj k uvádzanej dobe zrenia (6-12 rokov) ako XO nešacoval.

This is just not as good as the 12 for me. I would just pay the extra money to upgrade to the 12. That being said, this is still a solid Foursquare rum.

Easy in trickling straightly with no ice. Gentle, little sweety taste corresponding with its age. Can't stop 😏 I paid USD 40 and it is worthy the price.

Nato, ze je to rum bez pridaneho cukru, je chut naozaj dobra, je ale samozrejme o nieco suchsi. Urcite stoji za vyskusanie

Not the best but a good one to drink neat and the price point is legit.

I've tried just over a dozen rums in the $20-$65 range. Some will stay in my cabinet as appreciated sippers and for future taste comparisons. I've been looking for a go-to rum that's nice for sipping neat and also does a good job in mixed drinks, and I believe I've found it with the Doorly's XO. It's not the most refined, nor the smoothest or the most complex, but at $28 it's my new workhorse. I'd never turn it down and will specify it in my infrequent visits to bars. It's aged in sherry casks, imparting a fruitier and slightly sweeter taste that I prefer (I know some cringe at sherry aging, but this is mellow). I appreciate that there's no added sugar. It's just a good, solid rum, nothing terrifically fancy but quite tasty and always appreciated. It's right in the Goldilocks zone for me. I'm giving it an extra point because the price is right, I don't believe you can do much better...to me, this is (so far ) the best entry-level good rum I've found. I won't bother going into my tasting notes here, there's no need. I am already a repeat buyer.

Honestly I expected something more balanced after looking on XO letters. This rum seemed very dry and extremely harsh and heavy to me. Maybe I'll taste it again, but Doorly's 12 is my favourite compared to this one.
