Enjoyed with my two son in laws at Christmas. We all agreed this was a top rated rum we had just enjoyed. A solid "8" and a mixer would not come close to the glasses. Good times, great rum in the company of family!
If i were making rums, I would make it like this.
Smooth sweet taste of chocolate and vanilla.
Perfection.
Drinking this many times, good taste, goes nice with a cigar :)
Now that is a sipper. So complex, with each sip one can focus on a different aspect of a mouthfeel. I only pour myself a glass of Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva when I accomplish something. Not because of the price, which is more than bearable, but because this rum tastes like pure succes and I don't want to ruin that for myself. It goes great with a Davidoff signature 2000 cigar.
It's made this way, so it appeals to many, but I don't appreciate the sweetness.
Good aroma, palet and taste. One of my favs…..when I can find it
The Spanish style influences come through, with a nice grassiness to compliment the vanilla and orange. Not overpowering. Medium bodied. A fan favourite of mine for sure.
I think this rum is overrated. But dont take that as me ripping on it. I am rating these rums to my taste, and I like when my rum has added flavors and complexities. This tastes almost just like what you would expect rum to taste like with no personality. Now, that could be just what you want, and if thats the case, this is probably going to be the best thing for you! Its got great mouthfeel, goes down very very smooth, has a nice finish. For me though? Its just... a little boring. Leaves something to be desired. But for reference, I prefer Kraken, and Bumbu, with a little bit over the top flavors. If you want simple, and tasty, this is for you, but if you want something weird and funky like me, I would give something else the try.
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"

Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Aroma - warm molasses followed by lime peels and fresh pears.
Taste - demerara sugar followed by cinnamon, allspice, and a long charred oak finish.
So this is an interesting rum. I've never gotten a flavor profile quite like this in any rum that I have tries thus far, and I can honestly say I'm ok with that. The aroma on this rum is quite sweet with some nice fruity notes on the back end. I can't say the same about the flavor though. It is overly sweet, like an aged tequila that's been ruined by added sweeteners, and the finish is quite long but with a very bitter oak taste to it. perhaps the most offensive thing about this rum is the price $40 is insane for a rum that is this lacking. This puts it in the drink only if its free category. I don't recommend buying this rum just to try it, but if you do, try to get a 50ml bottle of it and DO NOT waste your money on a 750ml of this.
