Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva

E un buon rum, suave all'olfatto e dolce al palato con note di melassa e vaniglia, e buono anche da sorseggiare tutti i giorni visto il suo costo contenuto, e un'ottimo compromesso tra prezzo e qualità

One of my very favorite rums but they added a lot of sugar to this. Lots of caramel, toffee, arrack, fruit, vanilla. So smooth and very sweet. Probably the sweetest rum I've tried.

I find rum is often a lonely pleasure (not so many rum lovers around me) but when it comes to the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, everybody just fall in loves with it after the first smell.
I first tested it thru a friend (who normally drink whisky) and already introduced it to some other friends who directly bought their own bottle.

Its amazing sweetness and strong vanilla flavor make it one of my first choice.
Then I think it would normally deserve a 9 instead of a 10, because the best rum should have something a bit more to it and be less sweet, but not everyone can spend $100+ for a rum, so to its price range it is simply the best rum out there!

PS: just changed him to 9 (and was even thinking 8) after tasting it with a Plantation 20th, then I thought it's sweetness overpowering, almost like syrup. I kept him a 9 for its price.

This is a very nice and cheap rum, that I always have a copy of in my cabinet.

This is the best rum I've had. Great on its own or in an old fashioned.

Update: another bottle and thankfully still just as great as I remembered. If I could only chose one regular (affordable) rum it would be this. Great smell and depth of flavour.

I really like this, and for the value it is right up there.

Smells like a firework for your mouth, and it do deliver. And it's like a party when you sip it.
