Diplomatico Ambassador Selection

Rhum impressionnant par sa force aromatique! D'une belle robe acajou sombre, il exhale un incroyable parfum boisé et fumé, presque aussi acre que les cendres d'un feu de cheminée, derrière lequel se distingue des notes de caramel et de fruits cuits. En bouche, la force s'impose (47°, ça secoue le palais avec vigueur); c'est un rhum très masculin, boisé d'abord, avec des notes de tabac, de prune et un peu de porto, puis le sucré arrive avec des parfums caramélisés que les amateurs du "reserva exclusiva" reconnaitront. La longueur en bouche est intense, le côté fumé reste longtemps accroché au palais. Rhum de très grande qualité indéniablement, mais pas aussi exclusif cependant que son prix, très élevé.

too balanced. too sweet, of yourse. too smooth. too much caramell. too much price. the single vintage is more interesting, i think.

I had expected more from a rum in this price range. Not much bite. Taste is very round though, silky smooth and sweet.

Exquisite. Rich nose of chocolate and tobacco, finishes with richness of raisin, nutmeg and spices.

First impression is really good. Diplomatico presents his Ambassador in a really nice bottle with a heavy goldent cap, all delivered in a classy box.
If the outside is nice the inside is too. Even if the Ambassador is a 47% rum, the alcohol is not too present on the nose or in the mouth. It is well balanced and need to breathe to release all his aromas.
Definitively a high quality rum !!!

It was... a bit much. Very complex and dark, a bit too much alcohol. Big fan of Diplomatico, but prefer the Single Vintage.

The best rum I tried so far. Very elegant and smooth yet complexed. Need some rest in the glass to release the aromas and flavors. Expensive.
