Our bold move! Your perfect finish for a meal. Extra old. Blended rum between 25-35 years old. Aged in American Oak ex-bourbon and port casks which have been re-changed in some stages of the aging process.

This is a magnificent rum. I have heard bad things about spanish rums and on solera aging, but this fabulous beauty right there, does them all justice! Strong kick, sweet with moderation, very balanced, welcome burn and great coffee tones! This stuff is addictive as hell, feels exactly like a liquid dessert in a bottle! I would prefer it over El Dorado, anytime. Love at first sight or rather, first sip!
typical dictador, i find it sweet full of flavour and the bite required
Both rums come from Colombia and are bottled at 40% ABV.
Insolent: Virgin sugar cane honey was used for production and the spirit was then stored for up to 25 years in bourbon and then port wine barrels using the solera system.
Perpetual: Virgin sugar cane honey was used for the production and the spirit was then stored for up to 25 years in bourbon barrels and then sherry casks using the solera system.
Bottle: Insolent is in a silver shade, Perpetual in a gold shade. The packaging design varies slightly, so more variations are possible to find. The bottle is packaged in an opening cardboard box.
Colour: Dark Amber (both variants).
Nose: Insolent: Beautifully sweet, varied and incredibly harmonious. Honey, caramel, fruit (cherry), walnut, vanilla and oak wood. It doesn't sting at all on the nose.
Perpetual: Pleasant sweet and woody, molasses, vanilla, sherry, caramel and baked apples.
Flavour: Insolent: More intense, but not pungent. It is pleasantly sweet. As with every Dictador, walnuts dominate the taste, followed by caramel, cherries and quite a lot of wood.
Perpetual: Oddly strong, rather drier and a bit more pungent. Similar to a slightly sweeter whisky. The palate is quite woody, caramel-vanilla with dried red fruit flavours. It mellows out over time and becomes slightly sweeter.
Finish: Insolent (medium-long), Perpetual (long).
Summary: These are both rums with a classic 'dictador' taste, but they are much more refined in flavour compared to the 12 and 20 year old versions. The aroma is slightly more interesting than the taste, but these are both superior rums. I personally found the Insolent to be a better fit in terms of profile.
Overall rating: Perpetual (9/10), Insolent (8/10)
As other Dictador rums, this one is also about coffee, honey and caramel. That being said, you might as well go for 50% cheaper 12y bottle with very similar experience.
I love this rum, it has a lot in common with the 12 and 20 year old but is just better, smoother, the flavours more pronounced. It of course has the typical coffee flavour of Dictador which is very nice I find. Very very nice sipper.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

How to describe the perfection? He took the best from Dictador and developed it into a complex multi-faceted palette of honey-nutty-fruit flavors without falling into dryness and heaviness from years of aging. The taste shimmers and plays on the signature burnt rubber wood substrate. Not cheap, but worth each cent. We consider it the best in our collection.
