Spanish sweet with taste of toffee.
New slogan. Kiss me beautiful
I picked this up on a trip to the DR along with a couple of bottles of their 15-year Estupende. They were the most expensive (but a bargain) rums at the "Supermercado Jumbo" in La Romana and probably the best DR rums I've come across. I think I actually prefer the younger/cheaper Estupende to the Exquisito as it seems to be less "rummy". It wasn't that much extra and I'm glad I bought it otherwise I'd be regretting not knowing (and expecting it to be so much better than the 15). Comes in a nice tall skinny bottle that presents well, but doesn't fit well on the shelf with the others (too tall).
The scent is quiet but complex, which is age appropriate. The taste is mysterious, sweet, unusually tart. You don't need a water. No regrets in the morning. Price isn't high - I'll surely buy another bottle.

Very good and fine solera from the Dominican Republic (Oliver&Oliver distillery). The oldest component of the rum has been aged for up to 21 years in bourbon and French wine barrels. Bottled at 38% ABV.
Bottle: Tall, square with a thick bottom, which is closed with a cork stopper. My bottle was number 15 of 1000 (year 2018).
Colour: Dark amber slightly to ruby. There was a sediment in the rum from the cask, which I rate as a positive.
Nose: Soft vanilla-caramel. There are also raisins, red fruits (plums and cherries) and a slight woodiness.
Taste: Very mild. Again, vanilla, caramel and raisins. There is also milk chocolate, a little tobacco and oak.
Finish: Medium-long.
Summary: Due to its lower alcohol strength, the rum is very smooth and therefore suitable for rum beginners. It was also tasty for ladies who are not used to drinking stronger spirits. For the selling price, this is an excellent rum that tastes quite premium.
