Time to rate the last glass of my driest rum so far. I like Appleton's bottle design and the color of the spirit.
Moderate thickness and light brown/golden color signalize no additives, despite it's a blend of at 12-18yo rums. The aromas are strong and can be sensed from high above the glass, molasses, wood citrus zest and grassy notes.
In the mouth it is only a bit spicy, then continues with barrel taste and something sweet, maybe orange zest and molasses, which are followed by woody and smoky notes. Presently warming the mouth after swallowing with almost no burn. Cocoa in the aftertaste is a surprising summary, accompanied by dry feeling in the mouth and woody taste, which starts with you for several minutes, slowly decaying. At the very end there is also a coppery or metallic feel in mouth.

A favorite daily sipping rum, especially for the price point. Vanilla, cacao powder, and oak are dominant flavors, with some cinnamon and orange peel. Not much funk for a jamaican rum, but it’s very tasty on its own.

I think good value for this price. Similar like Appleton 12y.

Worth the money if you can find it. Very smooth. Not too sweet. A holiday rum at a reasonable price. A definate for the home bar.

My first impression was that I would use it, but not get it again. Each time I've had it since then, I have warmed up to it a little more. I still have others that I would choose instead, but it is adequate nonetheless.

Good stuff. I’m no rum expert, to be frank, but I happen to really like the Rare Blend.

A very fine rum, a bit alcoholic on the first attack, but becomes drinkable and a bit sophisticated, complex and intriguing. Should be left in the glass for 20-30 minutes before sipping and enjoying.
More towards a 7.5 pts.

Výborný rum. Suchý, bez cukru. Vynikne jeho chuť. nezklame
