This is nice. Sweet enough and coming from whisky I can a bit detect the faint peat note in the back. This makes for an amazing sipping rum at the price point of 20 EUR here.
This is NOT a liqueur-like flavored rum, the natural pineapple taste is just present and not overwhelming at all. It's infused in the fermentation process with actual fruit and rinds, not added flavor, and the pineapple is quite nuanced. It's very sippable over ice--that's how I prefer it, with a splash of soda--and also works well in hot buttered rum and other drinks that usually call for an unspiced dark rum...it just works. I'm sure it'd be outstanding in any tiki drink. At $48 after WA State tax I do feel it's a bit overpriced for what it is, and for that reason I deducted a rating point. Still, it's another hit for Plantation--I've also tried their Original Dark Rum, Artisanal 3-Star White and Grande Reserve 5yr--they're less expensive than the Pineapple Stiggin's and have become some of my go-to's for mixing. The Stiggin's is definltely worth trying, as a sipper and a mixer both. IMO Plantation produces some very decent, affordable rums that are good places to begin an exploration of the rum world...some folks object to their added sugar but I don't find them overly sweet. The Stiggin's is sometimes a refreshing change from more "classy" rums, and I will be replenishing this bottle when it runs out.
This is a very nice sipper. It also adds a nice non cloying sweetness to cocktails. All in all an excellent pickup and not at all what I expected in a pineapple rum.
Intense rum, you can taste a little pineapple, but aroma is not strong
Im not gonna lie, i dont like Plantation. This company is just immoral against consumers ,nevertheless I thought that I'm gonna try it.
20g of sugar/L, oof
Nose:
Slightly funky, ripe fruits, Pineapple's leafes
Taste:
Jamaican rum dominates the blend. Slightly funky, ripe fruits, unnaturally sweet, definitely not plenty of flavour. I dont taste any pineapple here honestly.
Finish: Non Existant, tastes like a sweet water after a sip.
The only advantage of this rum is the fact that it is pretty allright in cocktails
If you are thinking about getting this bottle. No, don't do that.
Here are some better options:
-Chairman's Legacy
-Doorlys 12
-Doorlys XO
-Flor de Cana 12
-Equiano
-Papalin 7yo (If u want that funky Jamaican flavour)
-The Real McCoy 12
-Appleton 12\
Also I truely reccomend reading this article about rum sweetening

Stay away from Plantation
cheers
Was smooth and flavorful! First time really drinking Rum straight
The nose is sweet but not overly so.
"Smells very much of fresh pineapple as opposed to sweetened tinned pineapple."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

the smell contains pineapple hint, the taste is sweet but not pineappleish. I could sip that rum, not strong.
