Romhatten. 57%. Gul. Duft af estere, frugt, lak, asfalt. Smag af banan, tør abrikos, vanilje. Skal lige have nogle dråber vand. Clarendon og Worthy Park. 20% lagret i troperne, 80% i Frankrig.
The Compagnie des Indes Jamaica Navi Strength is a single cask rum from the Worthy Park distillery and was allowed to store for five years in oak barrels. The special thing about this rum is that it is a blend of pot and column still. Therefore, light parts are also represented. The rum was bottled with 57% alcohol, which is why it is called Navy Rum. All, of course, without dyes or sugar.
The nose has a lot of alcohol and the glass should not be observed quietly 30min. Then wonderful ester notes with ripe fruit develop. Especially banana. Some glue is also included. The ester notes are intense but not too intense. That's where nosing is fun. On the palate, the Rum is a bit sober. The 57% chase a clear sharpness in the mouth. The ester notes are not that dominant. Clear bitter notes resonate. It lacks that certain complexity. The fruit is recognizable but is very restrained. In the finish, the bitter substances remain and shape the entire picture. In the aftertaste, the ester notes come back a bit and they stay. That saves it.
For 40Euro a solid rum, if you like strong tannins. I would rather recommend the Worthy Park Single Estate bottling. With 45% they make more funk than this one.
Lovely funky and really potent.
Sure, because of its age the alcohol levels shine through but you still have the over ripe fruits, arrak and fudgy notes running through it.
In my taste palet vrty balaced. Nice taste and favornotees .An exelent rum
If you like Jamaican rum or just want to try it with Navy strenght this is a really good choice for a really fair price i would say. Taken into account there is Hampden in this blend at least five years old it is a cheap rum for that quality.
I must warn that there is no sweetness in this rum, so if you have a sweet tooth, you should propably skip this one. But
If you love the Jamaican funk you will find it pleasant. Did i mention the very cheap price and Navy strength ?
Surprisingly good rum. Always glad to taste new rum that is worth it's money. Thumbs up! 😀 👍
Beautiful honey yellow in the glass.
In the nose wonderfully multi-layered and elegant, at a blind tasting I would have tipped on a Guyana Rum. Fresh rolls with fruit salad lying on a toasted wooden plate coated with caramel. In the background the deep, dark, earthy notes, resin, wood, moss, liquorice and musty wood.
On the palate a firework of aromas, the 57% shake the taste buds awake to increase the fullness was. Caramel cream sweets with chilli filling, chocolate wrapped in tobacco leaves, an oak trunk lined with leather. Wonderfully balanced.
In the aftertaste it only becomes "fiery" for a short time, then wonderfully long chocolate, fruits, caramel, tobacco...
A great Navy Rum with his young 5 years already has a lot to offer. For sea bears and connoisseurs of the untamed.
Tasty, spicy and strong. Great for mixing but also sippable
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This bottle took me by surprise. It delivers a lot of jamaican soul, but it's easygoing and at a price that's more then fair. It's not mind blowing rum and nowhere near the intensity of a well made Hampden, but the expression is flavorful, true to it's origin and very drinkable, excellent as a weekday sipper.
The color is light and straw yellow in the glass.
On the nose there's some funk with fruits (mostly banana and sweet peaches), raisins and hints of glue stick. It's all rapped in a bit of fermentation.
Sipping this, the first notice is how drinkable it is while still tasting like a true jamaican rum. It's medium bodied with the same notes from the nose alongside a honeyed sweetness and vanilla.
The finish presents subtle toasted spices with lingering vanilla and banana.
If you'r looking for a casual jamaican sipper, try this. It also mixes very well (8.7)
