Old Monk XXX 7-Year

Not my favorite piece, but nice to have sth “exotic” in selection.

A caramel tasting rum with an unpleasant after taste, this rum is only good for mixing. I often get headaches within 15-20 minutes of consuming a single glass of this rum. For the price there are better rums on offer. I wouldn't buy this again.

Strong and peculiar taste, although not very complex, followed by a potent alcohol burn. Good with coke or ginger beer, or by itself with some ice.

One way to dance your way into oblivion in Goa. Not for the faint of heart 😂

The price I can’t get on with, the taste I can’t get on with

Dark color. Nose: Vanilla and fruits, sweet and really smooth. The same about taste. Some resin taste and old cork. Pleasant finish, do not have strong alcohol aftertaste, slightly sweet and smooth.

Caramel and butterscotch. Enjoyable sipping on the rocks or with coke. A nice surprise.

Ich hatte den Rum zu Beginn meiner Rum-Aficionado Laufbahn aufgrund der Beschreibung eines großen Rum-Onlinestores erworben, da ich Rums aus aller Herren Länder ausprobieren wollte.

Zu schmecken war lediglich das bekannte Rum-Aroma aus Bielefeld, evtl. mit ein bisschen Reifenabrieb. Aufgefüllt mit Industriealkohol. Aufgrund der Güte dieses Getränks hatte ich zudem sogar etwas Angst um mein Augenlicht.

Es passierte bis jetzt nur einmal das ich direkt nach dem Tasting eine Flasche dem Kanaligator opferte. Old Monk hat diese zweifelhafte Ehrung erfahren.

Geschmäcker sind verschieden, das mag sein, aber hier ist meiner Meinung nach jeder ausgegebene Cent verbrannt.

In Indien gilt er als Premium. Naja, man kann ihn trinken.
