A 15-year-old rum for $21.69? I found it smooth with notes of dark brown sugar and vanilla, as it says on the bottle. Not a lot of subtle flavors, but very drinkable. Would be great as a mixer and not bad sipped straight.
Was surprised to see this and eager to try it. It was quite smooth but not a lot of different flavours popping out. I remember only fine subtleties that may require additional tastings.
If someone told me this was a $50 bottle, I would believe them. As it is though, this is a phenomenal bottle of rum that for $21.00 serves as a perfect sipper and mixer
A friend sent me a picture of this bottle while shopping at Costco. A 15 year aged rum from anywhere will always peek my attention. Then when he told me the price, I immediately asked him to grab me a bottle. I opened it and experienced loads of brown sugar(if you told me it was literally dosed with brown sugar Iโd believe you) and plenty of oak. The age is neither here nor there, but it definitely surprised me coming out of Costco with the Kirkland name on it. I gave it an extra point for the bottle because Iโm sucker like that.
Surprised at how good this is. Not great but a good mixer. Glad u tried it
Gift from Buck.
Tasted June 13 2024
Appearance: Amber with garnet highlights
Aroma: ๐ cherry
Flavor: molasses, sweet, perhaps a hint of banana or peach
Notes: this is a solid rum, and would make a Costco membership worth the price and effort. I do not understand how they are able to offer this rum for $20. Quite charming.
I'm hearing this was a limited run, strongly suggest purchasing if you see it.
In the bottle gifted by Buck. Tasted on 6-8-24. Pours a chestnut brown color. The butterscotch aroma gives advance warning that is is going to be sweet. Chewey sugary toffee and a slight woodiness to the dark fruits. At this price point (less than 20 dollars) whatโs not to love about this rum?
The smoothness, aroma and taste of this is pretty remarkable given the price (I paid $22 for a bottle). The Kirkland bourbon is blech, but this beats many other very good rums in our household blind taste tests. Even a big sip doesn't produce any kind of burn.
Wow! What a find for $20. Tried wholesale rum before and was not impressed. This is different. Flavor is similar to Pilar dark, which is a favorite, so I understand why I like it. This is not quite as smooth as a $45 bottle, but then itโs not $45 either. For me it was a great find that I plan to buy again.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I was pleasantly surprised to find this rum at Costco awhile back and now I'm on my second bottle. The first sip is amazing with a smooth feel and lots of burnt sugar on the palate. However, subsequent sips do not have a lot of other complexity or I would have given this rum an 8 rating. Overall, very tasty. Don't know how long my store will carry this one but it is well worth the $22 investment!
