On the nose, this is a relatively light rum, caressed by round and greedy spices. It opens with ripe and honeyed fruit juices, a little fresh almond, then a soft white woody note. A good whiff of freshness arrives with aeration, like a Vosges candy, resinous and minty. It is a natural marriage between the liquorice of the molasses, which gives rise to a pinch of cardamom.
The palate is aromatic and fruity, with pineapple and ripe citrus. The Christmas spices are round but fresh, as is the vanilla, as in a sweetly tart candy. The freshness returns with the oak, swirling around the bark in a minty, resinous blast.
The finish is light, delicately caramelised and vanilla, with a memory of tangy fruit.
