Foursquare 2008 Touchstone 14-Year

Touchstone is a molasses based double-aged pot- and column blended rum aged in ex-Bourbon and ex-Cognac casks for 14 years.
It consists of two components.
The first component, a 2008 ex-bourbon aged distillate which was filled in ten former Cognac Camus casks in 2020, then 12yo, to mature for almost 3 years more.
The second component was aged for 5 years in ex-Bourbon casks and 9 more years in ex-Cognac casks.
The nose is woody, fruity, nutty and spicy with hints of cinnamon, ginger and vanilla.
On the palate it’s a little acidic and bitter. I recognize oak, plums, figs, honey, chocolate, blackcurrant, ginger and spice.
The finish is long and dominated by plums with a little bitterness.
Overall a great Foursquare ECS rum.

It’s definitely an interesting mix of bourbon and sweet, with a long spicy finish. For me it’s just too much, I don’t want to have to add a cube or water to get the flavours, and without it’s just hard to get much. For ‘hard-core’ folks, I could see how they really like it.

I have been searching for this latest release for a wile and finally last week I got my bottles delivered to the door by a very good friend🥰
Just tried it out and this is a amazing rum and one of the nicest ECS rum.
Full of caramel, flowers, orange and nice spices in the nose.

When tasting the sweetness comes first with sea salt, raspberry candy, grapes and vanilla.

In the tail comes a lot of spices, especially pepper and then a stroll oak taste!

Really recommend this beauty!

First thing is it’s a bit early to be sampling 61% rum for me, thus a taming cube. This hits you square up on first sip then backs down slowly and keeps on going with depth. For me the Isonomy was magical and I luckily have some left which is pure magic. I have to back this one down a bit, I know it’s Ex Cognac but it still reminds me of 2008,2009,2010 with a very full body. Bourbon notes. I paid a hefty price $179 bottle bought 2 from California just to make sure I got it as Isonomy was really hard to come by. Solid rum if you had not had other expressions likely a 9.

I managed to track this down in a Tiki bar in Chicago, they didn't have much left in the bottle. Oh my goodness, so good. So tasty. So satisfying. Wish I could find a full bottle of this for sale, and for less than the cost of a night at a 4-star luxury hotel.

A new level of richness and complexity a little Dutch cocoa, a lot of heaven and a hell of a lot of booze!!!

This is an amazing and very complex rum. Out of all the rums that I own, and I own many very good ones, this one is at the top of the heap. It is absolutely amazing. You cannot stop nosing the glass. I wish it was on the lower side price wise, but I am glad I own it. I keep going back to this expression. Fantastic job Foursquare. I love this rum.

FQ Touchstone je blendem dvou rumů: první je ročník 2008, který zrál 12 let v sudech po bourbonu a další 2 roky v sudech po koňaku Camus. Druhý ročník 2008 zrál 5 let v sudech po bourbonu a poté dalších 9 let v sudech po koňaku. Celkový blend je tedy 14 let starý.

Exceptional Cask Selection Mark XXII (listopad 2022)

Aroma: Vanilka, mokré dřevo, svěží ovoce (pomeranč, pomelo).
Chuť: Nasládlá, ovocná, dřevitá. Po chvíli hořknoucí a velmi štiplavá.
Dozvuk: Ostřejší - alkoholová vanilka, dřevo a silná koňaková linka. Hořkne. Dlouhý.
Sladkost: 0/3
Ochutnán vzorek
Vliv koňaku je velmi značný, ale dobře koexistuje s klasickými FQ atributy.

Nose: Spice, caramel and fruity
Mouth/Palate: Fruit forward, not a lot of oak and some vanilla
Finish: Balance but with some warmth
