Sampled Holmes Cay Barbados Port Cask rum bottled at 55% ABV. This is my fourth HC sampled (although I own some other HC bottles that I have yet to open and taste) and I immediately smell the sweetness of the rum, as well as oak. This rum has been aged for 8 years in Barbados and an additional year in NY state. While I recognize the sweetness, the rum, IMHO needs more ageing in order to rise to the top tier of rums I have tried. I found the Fiji 17, Belize 15 and Mauritius 2007 to be much more enjoyable and flavourful. Based on this sample I would not buy a bottle of this rum.
