Firstly, this is a delicious sipping rum (no ice). Smooth and well rounded with a long finish. Notes of caramel, vanilla, baking spices. Well balanced without any burn in the mouth or on the way down. The various different notes kick on as the finish carries on through the mouth and back of the nose. This is definitely an upgrade in smoothness and complexity compared to the Don Pancho 8 year. 18 year is approx $75 and the 8 year $45 locally in Total wine and more in bay area CA.

Mixed in a cocktail the complexity can get a little lost. Keeping it simple - Mai Tai, rum punch or similar works well, but not better than the 8 year.

Mixing with coke - I know it seems like sacrilege, but it does work well, to each their own. The interesting thing about this is the different notes that get brought out in the different types of Coke. in regular coke it pulls more citrus peel notes. In Coke Zero more baking spice and root flavors. In Diet coke more caramel and citrus notes. in all cases this is a rollercoaster ride, with all sorts of flavors happening one after the other.

The Don Pancho Origenes 18-year was excellent, either neat or over ice. It was on the sweeter side with a smooth finish.

Tested neat, no ice. Nose is definitely emitting a beautiful old and aged barrel aroma. I detect coffee-molasses in the mouth, followed by a very smooth feeling that I just tasted some of the best rum available. If this rum doesn't do it for you then there are very few options left. This was $95 USD ($3.80 oz) including tax and should be sipped neat in a chilled glass.

Very nice colour. Kind of amber. Interesting odor of something powerful. Orange and caramel notes meet your nose. Taste is sweet, easy and powerful. Strong in body. Short, but intense and strong aftertaste.

A vey smokey rum, similar to zacapa black but with a panamanian rum base.

This rum had the misfortune of being tasted and rated just after testing some premium rums from Chairman's Reserve. This one is still a damn good rum, but has way too much woody taste for me. It should wind up tasting better after breathing in the bottle for a few weeks. As usual, any updates will follow.

Very good panamanian rum. One of the best I tasted so far.

Takie 5-6 niby fajne. Ale bukiet słabszy. Smak ... Im dłużej się pije tym lepsY
