While in the restaurant or bar, I try any new rum I can. I spotted Kuna Belize in the restaurant menu and immediately ordered a glass.
The rum is not too intense in the nose, with almost no alcohol in smell. The aromas are moderately sweet, with walnuts and honey. Nail polish remover is present somewhere in the background, and the smell turns sour after some time, with anise and cinnamon notes. Eventually, It becomes close to brandy Metaxa.
In the mouth this is a sweet drink. It's dominated by caramel and honey, with hints of molasses. Although some alcoholic spiciness distracts the degustation, notes of wood and coffee can be distinguished. This rum is simultaneously syrupy and sour, with no clear finish but quite an afterburn at the end.
A great drawback comes at the very end of tasting - the vodka-like ethanol aftertaste, very unpleasant.
