This one was bottled at just 43%.
Nose: Typical PM nose with grassy aromas, vanilla, bright wood or wood chips. Some sweetness is there in the background, smells like a melon and sour apples. Some molasses has also to be mentioned. Quite good for only 43%, but the issue could be in the taste.
Taste: It starts thin and not sweet or just a little bit, with vanilla and some tannins, instead of wood I must mention paper. The bitterness rises and the sharpness increases. I get bright wood now, grassy aromas, some anise and vanilla. There is a veil of bitter substances over the aromas.
This is probably due to the dilution and the cask was very active.
The finish is quite spicy for this abv. Again bitter tannins, vanilla, wood, grassy aromas.
Aftertaste: tannins, vanilla, wood, grassy aromas
Conclusion: Quite a good PM in the nose, of course not very saturated for 8 year. With a lack of sweetness in the taste. The bitterness spoils the impression, typical but too young and not very good PM in the taste overall. The dilution is too high.
