I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one but I’m a fan of Worthy Park so I was intrigued. I was pleasantly surprised on how much the Madeira really comes through on the palette. I really enjoyed this one.
Smell after barrel and spice, caramel and sherry in taste. Nice and smooth end
Straight funk on the nose per worthy parks but a heavy wood taste and sweet finish not too sweet. I prefer the standard aged version but this is fun for the collection, think normal worthy park with a slight raiseny (dos maderas style) hint at the end. Great at 45% abv no initial burn and only slight one on finish
Dark gold colour, overripe fruit aroma, smooth taste, a little sweet, caramel, more fruit, very slight alcohol burn
This is a Worthy Park Distillery direct bottling. It is a Forsyths Pot Still molasses based rum tropically aged onsite 8 Years in Ex-Bourbon casks and 2 further years in Ex-Madeira casks before being bottled at 45%.
The nose starts with a rich caramel accompanied by a distinct rich buttered popcorn and pear. Further nosing reveals Black Cherry Ice Cream, Custard Apple, Madeira (no surprise), Wine Gums, Prickly Pear Cactus, Guanabana, and a slight hint of Rosewater. It’s a pretty unique and wonderful nose that sets expectations sky high. Maybe too high.
Taking a sip immediately reveals the Madeira aging accompanied by wild sour black cherries, red wine, bourbon, and wine gums. Nexts comes a note that really throws me for a loop: Apples floating in Sangria, the signature funk of all Hampden rums…except wait, this is a Worthy Park bottling. How did that get in there? With a little water the rum turns creamy with an ultra-velvety smooth brown sugar note. Nice, very nice!
The finish is medium length and comprised Custard Apple, Oak, Red Wine, and (with water) that deep creamy brown sugar note
Alone this rum is pretty darn good. Over an ice ball it turns into a demigod tier sip. Just an absolute delightful mix of Madeira aged Hampden Funk with a creamy brown sugar finish…from Worthy Park. Excellent!
Anyway, this particular rum is a delight and if you can get some, I highly recommend you go get you some.

Rum zrál 8 let v sudech po bourbonu z amer. bílého dubu a poté ještě 2 roky v sudech po madeiře.
Aroma: Krásně ovocné - banány, ananas, vanilkový cukr, med. Klasická WP mediciálnost sotva znatelná. Živější a ostřejší než porto.
Chuť: Svíravá, štiplavě bylinková, lehce jódová.
Dozvuk: Tady už jede WP v plné síle - travnatost, mediciálnost, morké dřevo, výrazná vínovost.
Sladkost: 0/3

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Popped into an oldy world pub in the industrial quarter of Sheffield, and was amazed and very happy to see a fantastic range of rum behind the bar.
Had a few shots, of which this was definitely the best.
Smooth and fairly uncomplicated in the WP house style. Mild funk, bit of burn and a touch of sweetness.
I liked this better than their standard offering. I found that a bit boring, but the extra age and the finish seemed to bring this to a really nice balance and character.
