Overly sweet rum with a lot of vanilla and orange taste, a significant quality gap from their NPU series
This is my first Riise rum, I was anxious to try one and this was on offer for 35 Euro's. I love the tall bottle and the vibrant colour of the liquid. Smells strong straight from the bottle but it's oddly light and sweet tasting, marmalade-like when exhaling through the nose. I've tried it straight, with ice and mixed with coke and everytime I'm left with an underwhelming feeling. It's not bad by any standard, but I was expecting a lot more from such a big name XO.
I can’t really point finger at exactly why, but this one’s aftertaste somehow irritates me.
This one is too sweet for my taste. This can be forgiven, but the aftertaste of overripe oranges, that's just a bit much.
While there is some potential in this rum, it is not quite there.
On the nose, it is very sweet, which later translates to the taste. I can smell ripe bananas, along with some unpleasant funky smell, which I can't exactly identify...
As said, the XO Superior Cask is high on the level of sweetness. Oranges play the main role, there is also some coconut and peppermint. While these taste notes sound interesting, they are not harmonized and balanced all that well.
If the sweetness and oranges were tuned down a little, it would have worked together quite nicely.
A fruity rum with notes of honey, apricot and peach.
"It’s quite bitter lemon and lime zest and even the tiniest hint of some oak. The rum quickly fades away to little more than a slight alcohol burn."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Rather sweet taste with a significant hint of orange flavor. Acceptable in mixed drinks but not enjoyable as a sipper.
