This rum is from a pot still from the Enmore Distillery, which closed in 1994. Versailles Single Wooden Pot Still (Vat Still) is one of the most famous stills and is located at DDL.
You can find out more about the mark at my review of the REV Rum Artesanal.
Smell: Dark, aromatic and wooden smell escapes from the glass. There's a woody sweetness to it, as if burned sugar had been spread on old wood. Depending on your preference, you can discover a lot of ripe dried fruits, plums, raisins, cranberries, cherries or black currants. This could also be a flavored black tea that has been steeped for a long time.
Grape seeds, some dried orange zest, grains (buckwheat) and of course the molasses are included. Not in the foreground, but the rum clearly points in the direction of the Navy. Many floral aromas are also present, the rum almost jumps out of the glass.
Deeper in the glass it is very ripe and saturated, that is an almost overripe fruity concentration that reminds me of old sweet wines. He doesn't seem overripe to me, I would say he is just right.
A great, concentrated smell.
Taste: It starts off sweetly with dry fruits such as raisins, plums, sour cherries and some grains with wood. It's all embedded in burnt sugar. The tannins develop, ripe wood strengthens, but there are also more dry cherries and wine notes. The grains strengthen, there is a slight astringency in the mouth.
It becomes spicier in the finish, medicinally for a short time, then again delivers the old wood, the pods and the red fruit aromas of sour cherries and grape seeds.
Aftertaste: grapes, cherries, wood and few tannins, some grains
Conclusion: A nice old rum that doesn't seems overaged. It is unmistakably old, pulls something in the direction of the red fruit, as if it had received a wine finish. For me it is not necessarily a Navy Rum. It has light roots, but does not taste molasses-heavy enough. A good rum, even if the REV mark doesn't necessarily deserve the hype it is experiencing.

Aroma: Výrazně štiplavé - lékořice, pražené mandle a karamel, snad i tabák. Na pozadí eukalyptová svěžest
Chuť: Nasládlá kořenitost
Dozvuk: Opět pražené mandle, sušené fíky, hořká čokoláda a nálož hořkého dřeva
Sladkost: 1/3
Výraznější ve vůni, možná působí sladčeji, ale jinak je skoro stejný jako Guyana 1990 Uitvlugt.
Edit 12.11. a 20.11.2021: Aroma: Lékořice, máta, náznaky pomerančů, dřevo. Výrazné, svěží.
Chuť: Spálený karamel, opálené dřevo a nasládlá ovocnost.
Dozvuk: Zprvu spousta ovoce (meruňky, broskve), rozinky a poté rozinky přecházející do hořkého dřeva. Hořkost je opravdu veliká - zprvu parádní sušené ovoce, poté už jen dlouhá, těžká hořkost.
Po přechutnání musím zvednout o bod. Je ovocnější a sladší než 1990, ale také mnohem více hořký.
