Spytail Original Cognac Cask Finished

Kellemes, selymes, harmónikus rum, érezhető lágy konyakos ízzel. Karcmentes. Nagyon jó választás harcedzett rumivóknak, kezdőknek és haladóknak is egyaránt.

I like the bottle and makes funny sound when pouring. Very light gold in color. On the nose I get sweet coconutfudge. Over big icecube my palate gives quite a sweet rush of maybe a little artificial candy tastes? Coconut and fudge is still present strongly, but adding a good punch of alcohol taste. Feels a bit thick textured, like nectarine juice.

This has a nice sweet taste with Butterscotch and vanilla finish. Very easy to sip on ice. Worth a try.

The cognac barrel finish takes over this rum giving it a sweet butterscotch taste. Very different and unique taste. Would appeal to the drinker that likes a sweet almost desert type rum.

Enjoyed this one a lot…first time I try a rum from France….the cognac barrels gave it a smooth taste.

Spytail rum

This product recently became available in my area and Is available for $50 CAD. The bottle itself differs from other usual rum bottles and is shorter and rounder than most. Upon opening the bottle the aroma is completely different than the previous 192 rums 8 have tasted, likely a result of being finished in Cognac barrel. While not off putting it is so different and heavily influenced by cognac taste which is not what I was looking for. May appeal to some but not to me.

This is has a huge nose and flavour profile of butterscotch, vanilla, and toffee which lingers long after you sip it. Just a slight alcohol burn on the back end.
Quite unusual, as it’s the Cognac barrels that give this rum a unique and special flavour profile.
I’ll buy it again.

An excellent tasting rum. Tastes of vanilla and toffee. Enjoyable on it's own or with your favorite mix.

Second to Spytail Ginger which I drink. Similar in taste, mild, slightly sweet. Good for sipping. I have to try Spytail Black Ginger.

Was surprised to see this company's flavoured varieties but not its regular rum. Made from imported Caribbean rums aged in France in Cognac barrels, this rum is surprisingly smooth. Hints of apple and pear. This bottle went down quick. For a midrange price point this rum punches well above its weight. I will certainly be getting this rum again.
