Nothing stellar here, but it is plenty competent. Hints of vanilla and wood on the nose, with a floral note and some light alcohol, maybe clove. Palate, a good level of sweetness, light oak and spice, some caramel, and apricot. A bit of mild heat. Nothing really unpleasant. Not bad, quite approachable.
The first rum what I wanted to try with coke. Better in a cocktail than on its own.
The Angostura 7-year has a bit of a Cherry note on the tongue. It is caramel in color and appeals to the eye. By itself it fills flavor on the tongue but the flavor fleets quickly and does not envelop the mouth as other full-bodied rums do. This mixes well with fruit juices and angostura bitters for some great tiki drinks though!
Nutty burnt caramel aroma, "fiance adds sharpie to the smell", light brown rummy color, taste is smoother than some, coats the tongue, light hints of cherry. Nutty/oakey finish. Mixes really well, and pairs with bitters.
Got this in my local store in a good price with an Angostura jigger, I bought it for a friend's party.
Didn't have a chance to enjoy it "solo", but let me tell you, every drink with this 7yo was a bomb. Plain, sweet, trueschool rum. No deep flavours - but no harsh nose or mouth.
I would definitely buy this in the future.
Light vanilla nose. Subtle caramel that moves on to spices and finishes with vanilla for me. As good on its own as it is mixing.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Exactly what you'd expect from a 7-year column still: vanilla, toffee/caramel, oak, mild cinnamon, and mild dark chocolate/coffee. A little harsher neat that I remembered it, but not too bad. As expected, it's gorgeous in cocktails where the vanilla provides a gentle foundation and the mild spice notes really show up, so it definitely gets another point for that.
