When I first poured this rum into my chilled tumbler glass, it came out of the bottle orangey brown in colour, much to my shock, as I’ve only ever had white coconut rum before now. So immediately for me, this rum was off to an auspicious start. But I wish the only thing wrong with Project #173 is it’s appearance! The gigantic problems this rum has, is that it doesn’t smell like, nor taste like coconut. In my opinion it tastes more like caramel if anything. And, I can be even more specific for you. This ‘coconut’ rum, smells, looks and tastes exactly like a rum called Bombo, Caramel and Coconut flavour, which I’ve also had the misfortune to waste my money on. The only positive thing that I can say about this is that at least drank neat it’s quite smooth and mellow, due to it’s minimal alcohol burn. But sorry not sorry, this bottle is going to the back of my rum cabinet, out of sight out of mind! And maybe, just maybe, it may come in handy one day as a part ingredient in a cocktail. Or failing that, I’ll serve it to my lesser loved friends and family!
