I really enjoyed the blend of spices in this rum. Vanilla and cinnamon came through for me. It has a touch of sweetness and a nice smooth finish. Well Done!
This rum , as much as I wanted to like it coming from Alberta , tastes a little too much like alcohol , without enough supporting flavours.
n the glass, this Rum looks the part, a rich, yet transparent dark brown. It looks like a Rum should. So kudos for that. The nose is spicy of nutmeg, allspice or clove and pineapple. It’s a rich bouquet and pleasing nose. I like it even though a close and full sniff is quite sharp.
The first sample is odd for a Rum; it’s not familiar. In the mouth the overall impression is mild, no quick burn, no sharpness. Pleasant. The flavours however don't jump out at the start. I find that most is found in the finish, after you push it to the back of your throat and into your tummy. The big flavour is of allspice, a very unusual flavour for a Rum. I also find orange and the pineapple I detected in the nose. In the throat, it’s mild. You don’t say, Whoa! The finish is where this Rum shines, the flavours bounce around your mouth for a while. It’s a long finish.
I think the previous review hit it on the head when they said cardamom and nutmeg. Has a hint of sugary ginger and orange peel as well. For me I wasnt expecting the spiced flavours so while this rum is fairly good it wont make it in my rotation. I shall definitely try their other offerings.
Delicious aroma, immediately you get the cardamom and molasses. Smooth tasting, little bits of clove, nutmeg.
No burn, with a little longer taste. Adding a bit of water or an ice cube opens it up a bit. Quite nice for the first dark rum from this new distillery.
This is clearly slightly sweetened and spiced, but it's not overpowering. They have a spiced rum as well, I'm looking forward to seeing how it compares.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

what an experience. very enjoyable! for the 3 of us that did the tasting, this rum was our favorite and a great sipper to be sure. if i was to choose one word to describe this bottle, it would be "balanced" . it was all about the taste and the finish. both highlighted by a combination of spices but felt vanilla and cinnamon shined through. Loved it!
