This rum was bottled in august 2019 for the German rum Fest in Berlin 2019. Limited to just 183 bottles it's a young DOK with 1500-1600 esters.
Aged Hampden DOKs got very expensive, that's why I'm curious how this young Hampden would compete with his older brothers. But be warned, this young Hampden is also not cheap and you would pay in Germany around 159€ for a bottle.
You think it's crazy? Yes, these people drunkt too much of this crazy stuff and now they asking this prices.
Let's see, the nose is overhelmed by pineapple, it's sweet and of course a DOK. The other aromas are way too light in the background. The taste is good, but also a little bit too young. There is no malt in the finish. I would prefer an aged version. I think good rating would be 8.5.
Nose: ripe pineapple, pineapple, pineapple, some stainles steel, some anise, I can't smell sherry (px cask, really?), some wood with vanilla (I would say bourbon)
Taste initial: Citrus, pineapple, medicine,
Taste middle: pineapple, medicine, anise
Finish: spice, hot burn, some bitterness
Aftertaste: malt, peppermint
Sweetness: 2.5/5
Fruit: 3.5/5
Spice: 3/5
Mildness: 3/5
Value (159€): 1/5
