Equiano consists of rums from Gray's distillery in Mauritius (10-Year rum aged in ex-Cognac French oak casks) and Foursquare Distillery in Barbados (8-Year rum aged in ex-Bourbon American white oak casks), which are blended at Foursquare Distillery.
Equiano is exclusively blended and bottled at Foursquare in Barbados.

Aromatic heat. This is a beautiful blend that comes through perfectly with nice warm finish without the harshness.
I’ve been wanting to try this for awhile but haven’t gotten around to it so I was very excited to finally taste it.
On the nose you get lots of fruit with a little bit of oak. The first taste also gives way to fruit and hints of chocolate.
Really enjoyed this one!
Glad I managed to find this bottle of something different. Would of liked to find more of the cognac barrels influence than the bourbon ones , but that's just personal taste. Not quite a sipper for me , had a strange aftertaste that I couldn't get past. Doesn't really mix well either..
Just a one off bottle for me..

Cooperation between Barbados and Mauricius. Savoury, dry taste.
I’m sorry but I’m struggling to find anything nice to say about this rum. To start with, it has a very bland smell and neat it tastes more like a cheap whiskey, with a very gruff unpleasant alcohol burn, than a good quality smooth rum. Mixed with Coca-Cola things do get a tad better for Equiano, but not by much. It becomes just about bearable with coke, but the taste is still very generic with no real depth of flavours to write home about.
Vanilla, light toffee and some gently oak. .
"A really nice balance between the sweet citrus notes and the spicy oak notes."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Tasted at Tiny Tiki on 5/20/23. Pours reddish amber. Kind of a boring aroma of caramel and not much else. Up front nothingness followed by the longest most intense lingering ambrosia and treacle. So very unusual. Orange flavor without the citrus.
