As a recent fan of Foursquare, this rum is a separate journey all by itself. Not for the weak of palate!
At 67%, it’s not a supper for me. I’m not man enough. With a single large ice cube, however, this rum is sublime. Sweet, spicy, hot, and smooth all at once.
Typical of Barbados rum, there are no additives and Richard manages to make Nobilary stand above the rest with his distilling process.
Describing the flavors of this is difficult for me, as it’s so complex it’s beyond my ability to identify them individually, but it’s clearly got molasses, caramel and spice.
An amazing rum that makes you want more.
Here we go just reverse re-rated Redoutable, Detente, 2008, and Nobiliary.
First thing the nose is better then the other 3, damn this is smoother but just as much depth and a bit more spice. Still my 10 might drop 2008 to a 9.5.
Sampled at length few weeks back forgot to review now sampling side by side with Heriditas. Slight alcohol nose, rich smooth bourbon cask flavor. Better than Pappy Van Winkle or any bourbon I have had. Not a big burn after swallowing like Empery but full flavor long lasting mouth full of excellence. Rich mahogany color similar with every Foursquare I have tried, maybe their best yet?
Enjoyed at the tasting room at the Distillery on February 15, 2024.
Nose: Picked up figs and a bit of coconut with the vanilla and oak from the barrels
Taste: Tropical fruits with spices
Finish: Intense but eases and finishes with the balance expected from Foursquare
Nose: A base of honeycomb, touches of fresh, warm churros, and polished wood. Apple skins, too. There are a lot of bourbon notes, and tasting this blind may lead one to think of perhaps a high-rye bourbon. Subtle nuances of peppermint and cayenne lift add some depth. There's also a whisper of a grassy quality, almost ginger. After some time, cappucino notes show up, similar to the barista blend from Starbucks.
Palate: It's amazingly soft on the palate yet thick and coating. The arrival has sweet almonds, followed by citrus and pears. Still, the oiled wood, and generous layers of spice.
Finish: Distinct banana, rounding out with nuts and light apple pie. Long.
This rum has more fruity flavor with apple, raisins, coconut and vanilla notes. It’s a little dry but you definitely taste the fruit without extra sweetness. Delicious!
Den her rom har virkelig det hele. Fantastisk duft, fantastisk smag med masser af power og dejlig lang eftersmag.
This rum need time to breath and can't be the starter! Aroma is nice with oak and vanilla. Taste is more on dry side with aok, slight vanilla touch and long bourbon aftertaste. Very good piece from FQ Exceptional Cask serie but I prefer more the fruity siblings like 2008.
And it means a little bit of more burn.
But in covid situation could be an advantage.
For me to discover a whole potential is necessary to drop small cube of ice.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I found this at Costco for about $100 USD. I was a bit hesitant, however I knew it had to be good after trying the Sagacity not too long before I found this one. This one definitely has a different profile. The ABV is 62% which is way more than Sagas 48%. The profile is great, and doesn't have a horrible bite as one would expect with such a higher ABV. The bourbon oak is apparent with this one, and very complex.
