This has become my go to.
Decent for sipping, good for drinks and just overall a decent package.
There are other rums, that would be better to sip, but this is an all-rounder at a decent price
I am so enjoying this rum. I am trying all the plantation rums and this one is decent.
Excellent, especially for the price. Light but flavorful. Great notes of fruit and caramel. More notes of fruit but not funky like a Jamaican rum. Definitely a bit of sweetness but a really nice balance. Could definitely sip this on its own. Not quite a 9 but a strong 8.5.
Not as much personality as some other rums from Plantation but still extremely serviceable with a clean finish
8:On the nose it is quite punchy and vanilla. Lots and lots of dark treacly molasses notes jump straight out at you, a bit of caramel then. There is a sweeter, more perfumed note but it’s little fierce as well, varnish. After a little time in the glass some fruitier notes arise, fermented, overripe notes, even rotten, canned with passion fruit, banana, ripe pears, plum and some currants. There is a smokiness as well. The nose is really impressive and balanced.
8:On the palate the rum is not as powerful as the nose suggested, but is well round. The fruitier notes are not that strong, not overripe, banana is fresh. It has a sweetener note, it is spicy with some baking spices. On the mid palate, we get some punchy and roasted notes of burnt banana, ginger and a honey, minimal bitterness present.
7,3:The finish is medium. It fades quite quickly, is fruity, spice, some overripe notes, a bit dry and acidic, that sweetener note stays.
Lots of esters, foam banana aroma, banana taste, bit of acetone, funky, slightly harsh finish
I really enjoyed the flavor of this rum. Notes of cinnamon and other warm, earthy spices. But it's just a bit too rough going down for a sipping rum. Yet, it's pricier than I want to spend on a mixing rum. It's like the opposite of the Goldilocks Zone, which is a shame because again I really did like the flavor profile.
Vôňa príjemne sladká, trošku acetónová. Chuť mi pripomína whisky. Samotné sa to moc piť nedá, pôjde to do miešaných drinkov.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I saw on offer at the supermarket with 30% off, so I thought why not. I'm used to Plantation's overly sweet rums that Marks & Spencer used to do, and they weren't my style but made a good change every now and then.
I should have looked at the label more closely. It states "Dosage 16g" so they're not trying to hide the fact that this has a lot of sweetness added to it. However it dominates the young spirit far too much. Maybe that is a good thing, as if not, it would be a harsh and unattractive rum. As it is, it's OK but really not very good and should be far better.
It's one of those that might get used further down the line to blend away with some other disappointing rum. Maybe I am being unfair on it, as it is at the lower end of their range.
