Starting to see captain commercials again, what happened to the Kraken Commercials?Got this 6 month ago for retirement. was drinking Irish Whiskey. I like it.
I never thought I would think of the captain as anything more than mediocre, a tasty mix with Coke. But then I tried this and I was blown away. I had never before tried a rum I enjoyed sipping straight. Always I had to force it down like it was gasoline. But this is sweet and has flavour like caramel with faint suggestions of cinnamon and nutmeg, but not overpowering like Spicebox.
It has a mild burn that warms all the way down. Like sitting in front of a roaring fire. I notice my rating is I think the only 10 and maybe some would consider the rating a travesty and consider me to have a naive palette, but if I'm honest I couldn't think of anything I would like to change about it, so for me it's a 10 just because of that. :)
I was actually impressed with this seeing as itโs a captain Morgan product. Pretty smooth sipping wise. Lots of upfront vanilla flavor.
This has been sitting on my shelf for some time now, buried in the back behind my growing collection of high-priced bottles. Itโs Friday night and I rummaged through to find something to mix with cola to watch the hockey game with. Iโm not generally fond of spiced rims, but the vanilla nose on this tweaked my interest. Tried a sip to test it before adding the dirty and was pleasantly surprised - enough so to forego the pollution. Smooth at the top with almost instant spice notes, and a long molasses and tropical fruit finish. Sweet enough to stand up to the mix, but drinkable on itโs own.
The drink ability is not what I expected when I first tried the private stock. It is surprisingly smooth. Goes great with a coke.
I got this on sale, apparently no one really buys it. Maybe it's the mix of the Captain name with the relatively higher price? It's not great stuff, I wouldn't even call it pretty good. But it was definitely better than average. I don't know how else to describe it than "like the regular Captain, but a little better."
For a massmarket rum, this is very good. Smooth and unoffensive with a depth not common to Captain Morgan products. Great as a mixer, particularly in blends where the rum is standing more on its own, and serviceable as a sipper. A good stable rum to have around.
Dentro de los spiced, con el Bayou, los mejores. El sabor es bastante decente para ser un spiced, sin aromas ni sabores agresivos, tiene un buen balance.
Captain Morgan was actually a 17th century Welsh pirate...

Surprisingly smooth. Enjoyable on the rocks. Just slightly to sweet.
