Bacardi Superior Rum is the original Bacardi rum, dating back to 1862 when Don Facundo Bacardi Massó purchased his first rum distillery in Cuba. 150 years later, Bacardi Superior is now manufactured in Puerto Rico, but the recipe remains largely the same.
A unique strain of yeast discovered in the Cuban sugarcane fields is used to produce Bacardi Superior rum. The rum is filtered through charcoal, a process pioneered by Bacardi, before and after it is aged in oak barrels for at least one year.

Save $100 and get the 23 its better and cheaper hard to beat the 23
Forget the snobs, drink what you enjoy. This is a wonderful rum, and is the created by the only real Cuban company left; if someones says habanna or havnna club they don't know the history. Wonderful for cocktails galore and the rum most cocktails with cuban roots are based off of to get the intended taste. Its tasty but from the a major company and realtivly not that complex so it gets hate. Try it with an open mind, its good, cheap and everywhere.
This is always what I thought rum was in the old days. Clear, virtually tasteless save for the alcohol tingle, and certainly unfit for sipping. Really, this adds too much harshness even to mixed drinks. Fine if all you want is a cheap mixer, but I wonder how many people read this that it applies too. There are much better white rums to employ.
I feel like this is just about everyone's first rum in the sense that its mixed into just about every tropical drink. It's cheep, it's basic, but by no means is it something you'd want to drink on its own. It's good if you're trying to boose something up, but just be prepared to mask with Malibu, juice or a lot of Coca Cola. If you're looking for a cheap white rum you'd be better off with something like Meyers Platinum.
Let's be honest, this end of the Bacardi lineup is very limited, but has a role in the RUMba Community. You walk into a watering hole and see the selection is... well, let's just say you are in no mood to experiment. We've all been there. It's hot. You're thirsty. The character behind the bar has the patience of a gnat and "Q" tattoos. "Bacardi and soda, please." The well lemons look like Joan Rivers before her 12th face lift. You get the picture. Don't hate just set your expectation for what this one is good for.
The first time I took a sip of Bacardi, neat, my ears went forward like a wolf whose heard an interesting sound. I thought: what is this? I must acquire knowledge of this thing!
It’s probably the best rum in the world. There are some good ones out there, and plenty not so good; but this is the standard to which all other rums must be held.
It’s too good to mix; you don’t age rum — you ruin it; and adding fruit flavours is not for purists who like things to taste like what they are — I wouldn’t smoke one of those little cigars flavoured with rum and red wine, after all.
If you’re mixing cocktails, don’t mix the top shelf (unless you’ve got millions in the bank) — you won’t get value. Respect the Bacardi Superior and have it neat or on the rocks — it’s a world class drink for a Summer’s day!
This is terrible. Overproduced. Really burns. No characteristics that stand out. It's got legacy, but pass on it and spend more.
A shame people have this as a reference for rum. Undrinkable pure, the more it gets diluted with anything the better!
"I often think of Bacardi Superior as “sweet vodka...”
"Bacardi Superior rum review by The Fat Rum Pirate"
It is a white spirit that has a sweet fruity taste.
"It is a very sweet -apple, banana and a little sweet pear are all in the profile."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

...until I found Tiki and realized the wide selection there is in the world.
I still love the smell of a Bacardi & Coke and I don't hate the fruity taste either, but it has become boring after tasting many other rums in many other drinks and cocktails.
The smell is a mix of good and ethanol. The flavor is not good by itself.
