United States | Light | 40% ABV

Bacardi Superior Rum is the original Bacardi rum, dating back to 1862 when Don Facundo Bacardi Massó purchased his first rum distillery in Cuba. 150 years later, Bacardi Superior is now manufactured in Puerto Rico, but the recipe remains largely the same.

A unique strain of yeast discovered in the Cuban sugarcane fields is used to produce Bacardi Superior rum. The rum is filtered through charcoal, a process pioneered by Bacardi, before and after it is aged in oak barrels for at least one year.

By itself, this rum isn't that great, but it's good for mixing. I've been using it for alcohol infusions with great results.

Cut up and soak a pineapple and 3 tbsp of coconut in a fifth of this rum for 1-3 week(s) in the fridge. Strain/filter, and drink over ice. It's heavenly.

Not drinkable on its own IMO
I like it with coke and ice though

Bacardi and coke (baco) used to be my thing when I didn't know any better. But tasting it now I just can't rate it anywhere positive.

Why would you? It's cheap, harsh, and must be mixed with something sweet to be even remotely tolerable.

I'm not sure if most people could distinguish Bacardi "Superior" from vodka in a blind tasting. Bacardi isn't bad per se, but it isn't good either. It lacks any defining characteristics to my palate. I suppose if you really tried to find some tasting notes, you might get citrus and vanilla. Maybe. There are better mixers at the same price level, imho.

Nothing super special but I can’t deny how good it is. Great mixer and not overpowering.

Good if you’re on a budget. This is a rum you’ll want to use for drinks at a party if your going for quantity over quality of drinks.

I decided to try this to so something different as I prefer spiced rum. It is a mixer and I am sure it is great for that. I tried it neat and with a splash of ginger ale. Neat I can only compare it to drinking cheap tequila straight, it is a drink but not good. With the ginger ale it was a little better. I'm sure if I had tried around with a few other mixed drinks it might have been ok. I gave it a 5 because I am a bit biased toward spiced rum but feel like in a proper mix this would be acceptable.

I do not get all the hate for the product. It's not a sipper and was never designed to as such. It mixes well and does not try to be anything other than a white rum. Fine with me.

Swill. Just plain swill. Why does this have to be the most well known rum? Yuck.
