Although i started back into rum with Zaya i had to rate this a 3. Why? Simple really. The old Zaya was better to me. The new Zaya is heavily loaded or blended with additives. It's just over the top like eating candy.
Well, this is the real rum. A incredible aftertaste, very smooth, vannila flavor, it's a delight. Fuckin' anwelienle'
Surprise, surprise. I've decided to try something new and I don't regret. Bit of more alcohol taste on sweet background makes it Diplomatico turbo. Smashing!
Solid dark rum. Runs on the sweet side and a little caramel. Not as deep of a flavor as the best dark aged rums I have had but I regularly pick up a bottle none the less if I can snag it for a good price. If you can get it for a good price (~$30) it is a great bang for the buck. I find the price can vary wildly.
This was the first really good rum I placed upon my palate. I always thought that rum just naturally went with coke and that was just the way it was. NOT! This is an excellent Rum, I have been drinking it for 15 years and either my taste has changed or may be it is just not as good as it was originally. Anyhow, still great, I like it neat or once in a while will drink it 1:1 with coke over ice. Beautiful color and nice bottle presentation.
Com on , no wonder this Rum has Gold Medal Winner 2009 Ministry of Rum Tasting Competition. Silver Medal International Review of Spirits Award. Highly Reccommended by Beverage Tasting Institute, is sweet and easy to loved . Is versatile you can take it straight or on the rock, good with dessert or cigars after a meal. Very enjoyable .
Lovely bottle and that ends it. Found it nauseating. Strong, synthetic vanilla is the first flavour to hit you. It goes into my try in a cocktail shelf and probably will be binned a few years from now.

Zaya is a Rum that at it's price ($50-$60) is certainly fantastic! Sweet, smooth, vanilla. A nice richness that is definitely best enjoyed neat in a snifter. I would not even hesitate to purchase if you have never tried it before.
