Zaya Gran Reserva Rum is a blend of molasses-based rums distilled in a five-column still and aged in white oak barrels for up to 12 years.
Zaya rum was initially distilled by Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala in Guatemala. The brand was acquired in 2008 by Infinium Spirits and is now produced in Trinidad and distilled by Angostura.

Silky smooth, buttery caramel with a delicious woody finish packed with vanilla. This is definitely a sweeter/dessert run, but there is a decent leave of complexity here too. Really fantastic for the price.
Nice sipping rum at a good price one of my favorites.
Got it as a gift. Good but not amazing. After is ...
As far as I know there are 3 different bottlings of this rum. The old bottling that is aged 12 years and has the classic cursive label as pictured here, the more recent bottling which is a blend of 12 aged rums and has a more legible font on the label as well as a straw on the neck and a cork, and the current bottling with a sticker on the neck and a metal screw top. I've yet to try the older 12 year old product but my rating is based on the blend with the straw and cork. The current bottling is terrible and overly sweet, I would rate that a 3/10. The bottle I have very very sweet as well but has complexity and redeemable qualities that make it enjoyable as an after dinner treat. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys sweetened rums, and to those who have tried the current bottling and hated it. If you can get it for sub $30 give the older version a try. I will keep my eyes open for the older 12 year old version. Cheers!
Quite a bit of artificial vanilla and caramel flavor, and pretty sweet too. Not a bad choice for the price point. Might even be my favorite sweet sipper in the ~$20(on sale) range. My "bestest" favorites seem to cost at least 2-3 times more. Lovely bottle too. Overall, its worth a look, especially on sale.
This is my favorite rum to drink with cola. It is great by itself however, I love rum and coke and it is cheap enough in my state (PA) at 31.99 that I don't mind indulging myself with a bottle every so often.
It starts with a great nose. Once it goes to your lips, it gets better. Lots of vanilla, amazingly smooth. This is a great rum and you can drink if straight or with a couple of rocks.
It just seems odd that the number 12 appears a couple of times on this very thick glassed bottle, but no mention of "years" to go with that. The label does say "blend of 12 aged rums". Apart from that, I find it to be a comforting sippable drink [especially on a cold rainy afternoon); smooth, sweet and with a noticeable vanilla flavour.
Very sweet and smooth. Would be a great introduction for anyone considering a rich rum.
Cheers

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Quality sipper...like molasses better than cane sugar personally though.
