Displaying Bottles

I am unsure if or how to display my bottles. Should I only display full bottles? Should I not fully finish every bottle and keep a bit left? I am just curious about how other people display their rum collections.

I am sharing my rum journey on my Instagram. If you would like to follow along, please go to the link below.

Personal opinion: Display every unique bottle (any repeats put in the closet), I order by country of origen, but I've seen ppl order by their favorites.Β  Finish what you would finish normally (I have about 4 go-to's that I drink regularly - I just keep those 4 stocked up - usually 2 or 3 extras of those expressions), if you do this then you'll unlikely ever have "a little bit left"

I would set up a shelf with expensive bottles or series of bottles that are closed and also simply present a bar where open bottles are drunk. I would not leave small quantities of rum it the bottles, they must be refilled anyway because of impending loss of flavor.

I don't display my collection at all. It is in the cellar. Dark, dry, 15 - 17Β°C. Open Bottles and Samples as well. When someone visits for a tasting i prepare a Selection. I have some nice empty bottles for decoration. My attention is to get the best storage conditions.Β

I keep 15-20 opened bottles but only display "Unopened bottles" on this site, as well as "Wishlist" and "Unscored unopened bottles" but to each their own..Β

If you do display them, be sure to keep them away from sun or heat. Do not keep them in windows or near them. Doesn't mean you have to hide them, but you do want them kept in stable condition (preferably cool, dim to dark) unless you go through them quickly. Just my $0.02.

I agree with DB, it's a must to keep them away from the sun and in a cool place if at all possible.

In a recent Rumcast episode, someone was saying they went to a home and the rum bottles were somehow 'built into' the wall with shelves that perfectly matched the bottle heights - making it look almost like bottle wallpaper. That sounded pretty cool!
