rum & cigar pairings
best cigars in the world are from cuba, dominican republic, nicarahua, honduras, equador ...
those places remind me that this is rum territories too so why not pair cigars with rum ?Β
do anyone try some combination rum/cigar ? if so, want you to share with us your impressions ?
don t know if this is already been discussed ...
Basically, any cigar can be paired with any rum as long as you love both. For me, a strong rum generally goes with a strong cigar or a mild rum with a mild or strong cigar. Not a mild cigar with a strong rum. Same country with rum and cigar is certainly a good choice but a blend is also possible. I prefer rums from Jamaica, Guyana, Barbados, Trinidad and Reunion. My favorite cigars are from Nicaragua, Honduras and Dominican Republic, so only a mix will do. For a country pairing I would choose Nicaragua because I like rum and cigars.
Try and enjoy.
for me i don t look at same country pairing, i look more sweet rum with sweet cigar or sweet and not sweet contrast, when i started this thread few days ago i was trying an oliva robusto serie g (not so sweet cigar like cubans are naturally sweet, it s a nicaraguan, medium strength but good and affordable as a daily smoke) paired with a brugal 1888, it was a nice contrast ...
smoking a zino nicaragua toro and drinking flor de cana 18
the dryiness of the rum make the cigar more sweet than usual,Β
and the rum tastes more like a cognac ... some burnt wine notes
and also some liquorice, interesting ...

This really seems like a fitting pairing. enjoy. It's too cold outside for me at the moment.
There are quite a few thoughts on this; mild cigar and strong rum or vice versa, flavor and not flavored, opposing flavors, complimentary flavors, etc.
I have my favorites, but the possibilities are endless.Β Enjoy!
