In the glass it looks amber, in the bottle it looks like grenadine 🌺
Aroma: like every fruity slushy drink ever!! Sugar, peach, berries, Tang... it's a lot and I love it
Flavor: tic tacs and blackberries???
I'd mix this with sprite and serve on ice and call it rum sangria 🌺🌺
Today, I will submit reviews for 5 different craft rums from Louisiana. I will start with the least appealing to me. In the past few months when I looked at this rum on the shelf of one of my favorite liquor stores, it was always a woman who came up to me and raved about it. It does happen to be the best seller from this craft distillery. I always shuddered in fear thinking that it was full of added sugars combined with horrible memories of the only hibiscus infused rum that I have ever tried, Kilo Kai from the island of Curacao. Well, after researching these 504 rums on their website, none of their rums have any added sugar or coloring, just 100% infused except for their white rum. So I gave them a try this morning, but only two types were available. Their Bananas Foster is MUCH better!
The sugar cane that is used to create the 100% molasses for this rum is grown about 60 miles west of downtown New Orleans as the egrets fly. Their white rum is distilled there and then moved to New Orleans to be infused with botanicals and spices. The 504 in their name is the area code for New Orleans. In this case, infusion is from hibiscus leaves, dehydrated lime, pepper, and spices. That is too much of a bizarre combination for this rum drinker! However, if it is their number one seller and the ladies love it, then go for it!
In true craft rum fashion, they state that their rum can wind up anywhere between 76 and 84 proof. So they use a marker to write the correct amounts on the label after bottling. True transparency! My bottle is 80 Proof, Batch 15, and Bottle 12.
Update three weeks later: The flavors clash so much on this flavored rum that I donated most of this bottle to a neighbor who does not care what any spirits taste like, so long as they soothe her nerves.

Batch 55, bottle 16. Dark gold almost brown. Tangerine and Aprerol aroma. Black cherry flavor. After some water, ginger emerges.
